Exhaust gas pressure sensors
Exhaust gas pressure sensors measure pressure or pressure differences in the exhaust system and help the engine control unit monitor the diesel particulate filter. They are also commonly known as a DPF pressure sensor, differential pressure sensor or diesel particulate filter sensor. Accurate readings are essential for correct filter regeneration and efficient exhaust emission control.
A faulty sensor may cause an engine or DPF warning light, loss of power, frequent regeneration, increased fuel consumption or limp mode. When selecting a replacement, check the vehicle make, model, engine, production year, electrical connector, number of hose ports and original part number. Exhaust gas pressure sensors for DPF monitoring
Exhaust gas pressure sensors monitor pressure in the exhaust system. On many vehicles, they measure the difference in pressure before and after the diesel particulate filter. The engine control unit uses this information to estimate filter loading and initiate regeneration when required.
An incorrect signal may be caused by a faulty differential pressure sensor, blocked or damaged pressure hoses, a poor electrical connection or an actually restricted DPF. Before replacing the sensor, diagnostic testing, hose inspection and comparison of live readings with the specified values are recommended.
A defective DPF pressure sensor may cause frequent or unsuccessful regeneration, increased fuel consumption, reduced engine response, limited power and warning lights. Continued operation with incorrect pressure readings can place additional stress on the particulate filter and other exhaust system components.
